Copper cylinders are the most popular choice of how water tank in Ireland. The reason is two-fold; cost and suitability of use.
Copper cylinders are generally used in buildings which have low pressure or vented hot water systems.
For solar applications, they are usually supplied by manufactured with a prefabricated high density insulation coating about 30-50mm thick.
If the water in the cold water system is either hard or acidic it is best practise to choose a stainless steel cylinder.
